The Role
Join a settled, well‑run workshop in Bury St Edmunds with a family business trading since the 1970s, part of a main dealer group. As a Vehicle Technician/MOT Tester, you’ll take on servicing, maintenance and repairs, carry out diagnostics to get to the root of faults, complete vehicle health checks with video and reports, support warranty work, prepare Approved Used cars and road test as needed.
Suited to a Level 3 NVQ technician (or time‑served equivalent) with a full, clean UK licence, franchised or quality independent experience and confidence with diagnostic kit. An MOT licence is welcome but not essential; training is funded with a £500 award on qualification. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8.00am–5.00pm, with £35k basic plus bonus and benefits, manufacturer training, modern facilities, pension and 30 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays.
Key Responsibilities
What We're Looking For
• Servicing, maintenance and repair
• MOT testing to DVSA standard
• Diagnostics and fault finding — getting to the root of a fault, not just clearing the code
• Mechanical and electrical repair: brakes, steering, suspension, timing belts, clutches, air conditioning and engine work
• Warranty repair to manufacturer standard, documented so the claim is right first time
• An electronic Vehicle Health Check on every qualifying job, with video, and your own written report of what you found
• Preparation of Approved Used vehicles
• Road testing where required
• Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or time-served experience to that standard
• A full, clean UK driving licence
• Franchised dealership or good independent workshop experience
• Confident with diagnostic equipment
• An MOT Tester licence is welcome but not essential
